The Daily Flowing of the Spirit

May 14th, 2012

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace…

Galatians 5:22

We should never get beyond the beautiful simplicity of this truth, that Christ’s Spirit in us bears peaceful, joyful, and loving fruit. As we walk with Him in fellowship, we should expect Him to be Himself in us and through us. Wherever we go, each day we awake, each night we lie down, our concentration should be on letting Christ bear His fruit in our hearts, our minds, and our lives.

If something is outwardly unpleasant, if someone is disagreeable, if things are less than we desire, the Lord’s love, joy, and peace still come in a steady and constant supply. They will each outwardly manifest themselves differently depending on the circumstances we face and our immediate situation. But they do always come from God.

What a wonderful treasure this truth is, that whatever else is happening in our lives, we can receive and share these precious attributes. Our surroundings may seem to be parched of God’s presence, our social environment may seem like a waterless desert landscape, but the fresh springs of the Spirit still flow abundantly in the heart of the believer.

Our daily privilege and responsibility is to receive the life of Christ and to live in its reality each day and each moment. Thank you, Lord, for Your wonderful gift of life!
