Your Word Is Eternal

February 25th, 2018

Forever, O Lord, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens. Psalm 119:89

The evolutionary view of life is the reverse of the biblical view. From the evolutionist’s perspective, life began in primitive fashion and developed complexities along the way. Life is guided by its own self, reaching out to create its own profoundness.

The biblical view is that God spoke out of His wisdom and knowledge and created the world. This means that the truth of God, His Eternal Word, and not our human thoughts, is the strength behind the world. It is the truth that we must know and be guided by to be fully shaped into God’s original intention.

The psalmist wrote that God’s Word is firmly fixed in the heavens for all eternity, that from eternity past to eternity future, from vanishing point to vanishing point the Lord’s plan and His divinely inspired communication of that plan to us in the Bible is made plain.

God’s Word brings life to our souls. Whenever we take the Word of God and give it our undivided attention, we are allowing divine knowledge to touch us and shape us. Even better if we read it with open hearts, listening to the Spirit’s voice and agreeing with Him on our priorities.

Is there sin to be confessed? Are there truths to be claimed? Is the gospel of Christ laid open before us – God’s way of saving us? Are there promises to be believed in and trusted? Are there good things to do in this life? All of these are found in His Word and as we read eternity touches our souls.
